The Hidden Danger of Using a Different Charger for Your Gaming Laptop

Recommended Posts

Why did my laptop's gaming performance drop after using a different charger?

I have a Lenovo Legion 5 (3070, R5) laptop that I use for gaming. One day, I forgot to bring my original charger and used a different one at work. The laptop showed a message that it was charging slowly, but it still worked. When I came back home and used my original charger, the message disappeared and the laptop seemed to charge normally. However, when I launched a game, I noticed a significant drop in the frame rate (fps). It went from above 50 fps to around 15-22 fps. It felt like the laptop was trying to save power, even though it was plugged in. I checked the settings and made sure that the performance mode was enabled, and there were no battery saving modes on. What could be the reason for this sudden decrease in gaming performance? How can I fix it? Thank you for your help. :)
